About Organo-Consulting
Organo-Consulting is the business entity under which I – Sébastien Mosser – offer my freelance consulting services.

I hold a PhD in Neuroscience from EPFL (Switzerland) and a joint eMBA from Helbus (Finland) and Northampton (UK) universities, bringing a unique blend of scientific and business expertise. With 8 years of experience in MPS, I have served as both CSO and COO, managing R&D and business development simultaneously.

After completing my PhD, I joined the MPS startup Neurix, which successfully exited. I then embraced a new entrepreneurial challenge in Finland, working as the business-oriented CSO for the microfluidic startup Finnadvance.

In both roles, I conducted market analyses to guide the development of MPS products, ensuring optimal market fit and strategic brand positioning. I also led collaborations with biotech companies, pharmaceutical firms, and academic laboratories. As a CSO and COO, I oversaw the standardization of cell and spheroid culture practices, enhancing reproducibility, cost-effectiveness, and scalability for increased throughput for proper market fit. I'm also co-author of 12 scientific publications.

Toward higher complexity preclinical in vitro testing market

The use of cell-based in vitro tests is essential for the development of therapies. These tests have significant potential to replace or reduce animal experiments, supported by FDA modernization acts 2.0 / 3.0 and new approach methodologies NAMs. This shift is expected to drive market growth and open up new business opportunities for in vitro assays, though it will also add to their complexity.
The recent rise of microphysiological systems (MPS) offers great promise in improving the predictability of in vitro testing. These innovative methods utilize complex platforms designed to replicate organ micro-environments using techniques such as 3D cell culture, mechanical stimuli, and microfluidics.
MPS are a game changer in the in vitro assay market, with adoption already widespread among most major pharmaceutical companies. There are currently over 40 commercial MPS providers, offering varying formats, capacities, and complexity. Understanding this complexity is crucial for identifying both opportunities and risks in this rapidly advancing field.
