About Organo-Consulting

Organo-Consulting is the business entity under which I - Sébastien Mosser - carry my freelance consulting activities. His knowledge has been gathered through my biologist, CSO & business developer duties in the field of MPS. I aims at providing guidance in the development and integration of such technologies. The goal ? De-risk drug development through animal - free methods.

Dr. MBA Sébastien Mosser

S. Mosser.jpg

I hold a PhD in Neuroscience from EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland and got recently awarded a joint eMBA from the University of Northampton, UK & Helbus Helsinki school of business.

I cumulates 8 years of MPS expertise as a biologist, CSO and business developer. After my PhD I first led the scientific and business development at the brain organoid company Neurix SA which underwent successful exit. I then moved forward in my entrepreneurial journey joining in 2022 the microfluidic company Finnadvance where I carry similar duties.

I mix both scientific and business expertise. I performed market analyses to guide the development of MPS products, ensuring market fit and suited brand positioning, leading collaborations with Biotechs, pharmas and academic laboratories. As a CSO and COO, I also supervised the standardization of cell culture practices to enhance reproducibility as well as cost / time efficiency, aiming for scalability and throughput.

What are MPS, their advantages and limitations ?

At the very end of the development pipeline of new therapies, those are tested into clinical trial. However this critical step suffers from 90% failure rate which leads to billions of euro wasted every year by pharmaceutical companies, with no efficient & safe therapies available for curing patients. Those failure are mostly due to toxicity and / or a lack of efficiency which shows that current preclinical tests - both animal and in vitro testing - are poorly predictive of clinical trial outcomes.

Over the past 15 years, new in vitro cell culture techniques have been developed for commercial applications. Microphysiological systems (MPS) aim at increasing the predictability of in vitro testing through the cultivation of cells in higher physiological environment. MPS may reproduce in vivo - like features by the cultivation of cells in 3D environments, culture media perfusion, mechanical stress, cell culture substrates, etc ...

Many years of research and standardization have led to many biotechs proposing MPS-based in vitro therapy testing or manufacturing services. However one solution does not fit all, and the high number of possibilities may be misleading to orient oneself / chose / position toward the most suited MPS setup.

Organo-consulting is an expert service to support your navigation through MPS technologies and market.
